Technical/Professional writing involves many different aspects of writing. The following links are samples of different types of assignments completed by students in the area of Technical/Professional writing.
Sample 1
Jennifer Geoppinger’s flyer announces a convention
for the television
show Firefly, and
the movie Serenity. She created this
flyer for a document design class
using Microsoft Publisher.
Sample 2
Dana Hartsfield’s flyer announces the sale of the Gamma Beta Phi
Cookbook. She created this
flyer for a document design class using
Microsoft Publisher.
Sample 3
Lyndsey Avinger's basic example of an annotated bibliography done in
MLA format. This project was done in Microsoft Word for a document design class.
Sample 4
Jennifer Geoppinger redesigned a paper on Kate Chopin for a
document design class. She had originally submitted this paper for a
literature class - document was created in Microsoft Word.
Sample 5
Jennifer Geoppinger's
project was a review
of literary journals and websites that may be helpful to a new
writer. The topic focused on was technical writing and document
design.
Sample 6
Dalton Doyle, using Quark Xpress, designed her
literary paper on Symbolism and Style in the work Italo Calvino.
Dalton then
imported her design into a PDF file. Her paper includes comments to
illustrate Adobe's procedure for annotating PDF files, a procedure similar to
"Track Changes" in Microsoft Word and with which many students may
be unfamiliar.
Sample 7
In a
group project led by Dalton Doyle and Malorie Lee, students observed David
Anderson's Pilates classes; Danny Doyle took photographs; and the
class collaborated in writing instructions. Dalton did the layout in
Quark Xpress. The final result is a brochure that could be
published and distributed. This is an excellent example of
information design.
Sample 8
David Samson’s paper gives you instructions on how to change a
switch. He created this document for an Introduction to Technical
and Professional writing class using Microsoft Word.
Website
This website is the final group project for the Spring ENG 3366
Professional Document Design class. This project was designed by class
members Lyndsey Avinger (class photographer for tower and class photos), Bethany Boyce, Mary Gardner, Jennifer Geoppinger, Tiffany Jones, and Dana Hartsfield. This site is a revision
from previous classes that included design and research by Sonya Brown, Nicole Colon, Angela Davis, Dalton Doyle, Malorie Lee, and Kandy Williams. |
