Dr. Yang was born in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China. She received a Masters' degree at Southeast Missouri State University and her EdD from the University of Memphis, then worked in the Troy State University Dothan Instructional Technology Department before becoming an Associate Professor of Educational Technology here. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dothan with her husband, Guiming Zhong, and son, Yang Zhong.
Dr. Yang's commemorative site is not a tree but one of the swinging benches placed around campus. Hers is near the sidewalk on the north side of Adams Hall, adjacent to the Quad.
The “For More Info” Project is a joint venture of The Wiregrass Archives and the Troy University Libraries funded in part by a generous grant from the Historic Chattahoochee Commission Seed Grant Program. Begun in 2015, “For More Info” provides a place to find biographical information and images of the people honored in the Memorial Tree Program established by the Dothan Beautification Board in 1991 and continued at Troy University Dothan Campus.
“For More Info” also provides organizational histories and biographical sketches concerning named buildings, rooms, and other facilities on campus.
