Biography

Dr. Alberto Arteta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Troy University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2000 and completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2010. The following year, he obtained a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Since 1999, Dr. Arteta has worked as a consultant and technical engineer for 11 private IT companies—including his own—prior to transitioning to academia at Troy University. His professional roles have included software developer, technological team leader, database administrator, and systems technician. From 2007 to 2015, he also served as an adjunct associate professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. His research interests include artificial intelligence, unconventional computing, database systems, and cybersecurity. He has authored over 50 publications in these fields, encompassing journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, and books. Dr. Arteta also contributes to the academic community as an editor and associate editor-in-chief for several reputable journals. In recent years, he has led efforts to develop large-scale research grants in software development. At Troy University, he has further contributed through service as a faculty senator and chair of multiple technology-related committees.
