Biography

Alberto Arteta is an associate professor in the computer science department at Troy University. In 2000 he got his bachelor’s in Mathematics from the University Complutense of Madrid. In 2010, he earned his Ph.D. In Computer Science. In 2011, Dr. Arteta obtained his master's in Artificial Intelligence from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Dr. Arteta has been working as a consultant and technical engineer in 11 private IT companies since 1999, including his own, until he joined Troy University to continue his academic career. He’s worked as a software developer, technological team leader, database administrator, and systems technician. He also worked as an adjunct associate professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid from 2007 to 2015. His preferred research areas are artificial intelligence, unconventional computing, database systems, and cybersecurity. He holds 42 publications on these topics, including academic journals, book chapters, conferences, and books. He serves as editor and associate editor-in-chief at some of the well-known journals in the area. He’s been working on building several large research grants in software development over the last few years. Dr. Arteta has also served as a faculty senator and chair of different technological committees at Troy University.
