Course Description
A study and evaluation of research methods commonly used in the social sciences. Students will develop an ability to identify weaknesses and strengths in research designs and how to overcome design weaknesses to improve the overall validity of designs.
Course Objectives
At the completion of CP 6691, each student is expected to:
- Develop/improve the ability to interpret and objectively evaluate studies and research in the field of education and cognate areas.
- Know the basic fundamentals and methods of social science research with emphasis on the descriptive, causal-comparative, correlational, and experimental research methods.
- Discuss legal and ethical considerations in research
- Demonstrate an understanding of the basic statistical tools used in research.
