Instructional Technology
Troy State University does not have a screening process to admit students into the Masters in Education - Instructional Technology program. However, our experience with students entering the program tells us that some computer experiences might be considered a 'prerequisite' to successfully completing the program with a minimum of stress and excess time required to complete the work.
In an effort to help you gain a snapshot of how your computer skills "stack up" against other technology students, we have devised a survey instrument of some of the Windows skills. If you have had strong or weak experiences in Windows tasks, we feel it will affect the way you complete the technology program.
We have created several short tests which can be completed in one long sitting or over several sessions. We ask you to keep your score on each test and add the totals for a grand total. When you have completed all of the tests, you can compare your score to others. Odds are that your performance on the tests will give you a better insight into the probability of reasonable success with reasonable effort. Your score may also give you an idea that you will have to spend several 'extra' hours weekly.
Like most tests on humans, there is no reliable way to measure the heart. Highly motivated people have successfully completed the technology degree program and currently have a masters. By the same token, several strong computer people found the program demanding and had to spend extra time to master the concepts and skills presented in the program. Why not take the test and see how you do!!!
