Viewing Results of Data Entry
Numerical spreadsheets are wonderful for examining the 'What If' relationships of numbers. Depending on the complexity of the project, the window containing the cells for data entry may be too far to view the cells containing the results without scrolling. If you don't like the results, you will have to scroll back to make a new data entry and scroll back and forth to view the results. There are several ways to eliminate all that scrolling that all work. One of the easiest ways to see what happens a scrolling distance from the data entry is to create a small viewing window to watch the results change. The neat thing is the ease in setting us such a viewing aid.
For purposes of this example, we have chosen a very simple data-entry and results spreadsheet.
![]()
In this example, the yellow cells (C4 and C5) are the data-entry cells and the formulas show the results in E4 and G4.
First select the first cell containing results. RIGHT-CLICK in this cell to open the choices.
Look for the Add Watch feature near the bottom.
The Watch Window opens and you can see both the formula and the result (value = 106)

Repeat the process by Right-Clicking on the second Results cell.

You will see the second results in the same Watch window.

Once you decide you no longer need to keep up with the results, you can turn off the feature by selecting the results cell and Deleting Watch.
Note: In this case you will have to select both results cells and select Delete Watch to completely stop the window from appearing.
