Word Count -- a great shortcut!

As you progress through your semesters in the Troy University School of Nursing, you'll pick up neat tricks to make your life easier!  Here's a good one: Word count -- using Microsoft Word to automatically count your words so you don't have to.

Let's say that your professor asks you to write an essay that requires that your entry be between 500 and 750 words, no more and no less.

  1. Open Word and compose your essay.

  2. Highlight the amount of text that you want to count.

  3. Look to the top menu bar and click on Tools, Word Count. The number of words will appear.

  4. Adjust your response up or down to achieve the correct number range of words for your response.
