BIO 4425/5525

Field Botany is a senior/graduate level field course designed as a detailed study of plant identification, habitat analysis and herbarium operations. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to 1) understand taxonomic principles and how to use dichotomous keys; 2) identify, to species, the most common plants from various habitats throughout southeast Alabama; 3) identify the type of habitat based on species composition; 4) correctly use an herbarium; 5) press, dry and mount plants to be placed in the herbarium. Prerequisities: BIO 1101, L101, 2229, L229.
