THE TROY UNIVERSITY
TRUMPET ENSEMBLE
The Troy University Trumpet
Ensemble was formed in 1998 to promote trumpet repertoire and performance and
is conducted by James Zingara. Made up of eight to sixteen Troy University
music majors, the group offers flexible combinations of trumpets featuring
original music, transcriptions and novelties. This particular type of ensemble
is appropriate for ceremonial/opening fanfares, chamber settings and formal
concert programs. The TROY Trumpet ensemble has performed at many Troy
University
events, including the 1999-2007 Trumpet Symposia, the 2000 and 2001
Southeastern United States Band Clinic and every commencement
program from 1999. The ensemble has also performed with the Northwest Florida
Symphony, the Music South Symphony and the Troy Symphony Orchestra. Other
performances include playing the National Anthem for the Atlanta Braves,
several Montgomery Biscuits baseball games and the 2004 and 2005 Trojan Summer
Music Games. In the summer of 2001, the ensemble was featured at the Alabama
Bandmasters Convention in Gulf
Shores, Alabama. Most
recently, the Troy University Trumpet Ensemble was selected to perform at the
2007 and 2009 International Trumpet Guild Conferences, where they premiered two
new works by David Marlatt, David Ott and Kevin McKee.
