Recording Projects
Educational Projects:
A recent Audio Principles I class recorded the album for the Fretworks Guitar Ensemble, directed by Dr. Douglas Back. This nationally acclaimed group of young musicians recorded the entire album in one day in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor on our TROY campus. My class served as engineers for the album which was mixed and finalized by my student engineer, Steven Buoni (Troy -' 06).
Songwriter Demos
My students and I work to produce many pro bono publico demos for local songwriters.
American Will Overcome, by Janet Partion (copyright 2005), recorded and released within 2 weeks of the Hurricane Katrina tragedy. Vocal by Mrs. Kelly Efstathiou and recorded by the first audio principles class.
Congrats, Kelly!

"Come Home, It¹s Suppertime" is a wonderful way to portray our past....I hope the community realizes what a real treasure they have.
Dr. John M. Long,
When Singer/songwriter Lenny Trawick took over musical direction of "Come Home, It's Suppertime" and revamped the music, he asked me to record this first truly "homegrown" production of Alabama's Official Folklife Play. Here's a sample, recorded at Brundidge First United Methodist Church...
The proceeds of their CD sales go to fund a scholarship for Pike County High School musicians who help with the production. Click the link below to purchase a copy of the CD.
Review - Loved It ! The CD sounded professional. I really enjoyed Smokehouse Blues.

Reviews
The sound is vivid, as if the "Big Trio" were right in the room with me. Bravo!
James Camner, Fanfare Magazine
Listeners will find this CD enjoyable from the standpoint of musicianship
and sparkling arrangements. The balance is superb. I was amazed at the
fullness and richness of sound that emerged from the combination of the
three instruments. In this setting it seemed as though I was hearing some
of these old war horses for the first time, and enjoying them more. If ever
a recording were to be identified as exemplifying what the Fretted
Instrument Guild of America is all about, it would have to be this one.?
