Program Requirements:

Chemistry Program and Major

To graduate from Troy University with a baccalaureate degree in chemistry, the student must select either the chemistry major and a minor, or else the chemistry program.  Those declaring themselves to be chemistry majors will have their minor listed on their transcripts.

The chemistry program requires only 55 credit hours (counting prerequisite courses), compared to 71 credit hours for the combination of a minor and chemistry major (18 hours for the minor, 37 hours for the major, and 16 hours for the math and physics prerequisite courses).  If the minor is in math or physics the credit hours required for the major/minor combination would be reduced from 71 to 63 (because math and physics are also prerequisites for some chemistry courses).

Students selecting the chemistry program, major, or minor must take CHM1142 and CHM L142 (general chemistry I and lab) to meet their general studies area III requirements.
