ATTENDANCE POLICY

The student is expected to attend all scheduled classes.  A student is expected to come to class on time and not leave early.  Leaving class early or arriving to class late for any reason other than illness or other reasons beyond the students control will be counted as tardy unless prior arrangements are made with the instructor or the instructor agrees and accepts the students reason or excuse for such action.  The accumulation of three(3) tardies counts as one absence. Should a student come to class late or must miss the class, it is his/her responsibility to check as soon as as possible (ASAP!) to see whether the instructor may record the action as a tardy, penalized abscence or abscence without penalty.   The instructor must be advised of the reason for the absence and proof may be required so as to determine whether the action is considered excused.  The Penalty count for absences begins on the second class meeting.  A total of three unexcused absences may result in a drop of one letter grade in the final grade. NOTE:  Official school functions are not counted as absences.

STUDY AND PREPARATION

To increase your chances of success in this course, first and foremost, attend all scheduled class sessions.DO THE ASSIGNED HOMEWORK at the time of assignment. ASK QUESTIONS concerning problems that you find difficult, interesting, or challenging either in class or during office hours or e-mail the instructor at assignments2002@hotmail.com.   Unless otherwise specified, homework will not be collected.  However, you are expected to DO ALL OF THE ASSIGNMENTS.  A notebook of all assigned problems may be required.  If so, this work will be checked at midterm and at the end of the semester.  To a greater extent, your conscientiousness in this matter will determine your success in this course!  More than likely, an assignment will be given each class meeting day.  Should you miss an assignment, please visit the website http://spectrum.troy.edu/~avant/Assignments.html
