Canons of the Council of Orléans V (549)

1.  The teachings of Euthicis are condemned (Euthicis' teachings were similar to those of Nestorius)

2.  Heretic priests are forbidden from communion.

3.  The clergy are not to cohabitate with women.

4.  Clergy who return to their wives after ordination are to be deposed and excommunicated.

5.  Clerics are not to travel without their bishop's permission

6.  Slaves are not to be ordained without the consent of their master.

7.  Concerning the Church's ability to free escaped slaves

8.  After the death of a bishop, no ordinations or consecrations are to take place before the appointment of his successor.

9.  No lay person can be made a bishop before completing at least one year in clerical orders.

10.  All bishops must be confirmed by the king after canonical election.

11.  Uncanonically elected bishops are to be deposed in perpetuity.

12.  Bishops cannot ordain any bishop to serve as their successors.

13.  Concerning alms given to the Church.

14.  Bishops of one kingdom should not accept gifts from another king.

15.  Concerning the pilgrimage hospice constructed by Childebert I in Lyon.

16.  No one should seek a return of a gift his parents gave to the Church.

17.  Bishops should have trials conducted by their peers.

18.  Concerning episcopal attendance at Church Councils.

19.  Any girl who remains in a monastery for one year is permanently consecrated.

20.  Regarding the care of the poor in a bishop's see.

21.  Regarding the care of lepers.

22.  Regarding fugitives and Church sanctuary.

23.  Metropolitans should meet with the bishops of their ecclesiastical province annually.

24.  All canons are unanimously agreed to.
