Welcome to the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) detachment at Troy. We in the Department of Aerospace Studies provide pre-commissioning education for qualified students who desire to serve as commissioned officers in the United States Air Force.
Detachment 017 is a two-year detachment open only to individuals academically classified as second semester sophomores through graduate students. High school students, college freshman, sophomores, and others interested in our program should contact us early to complete prerequisites for the AFROTC program. Historically, individuals pursuing technical degree majors have been in greatest demand by the Air Force, though highly qualified, non-technical majors also compete for entry into the Air Force ROTC. Troy University offers the following technical majors:

AF Enlisted - Your primary resource for applying for AFROTC is your
base education center. Our role at Detachment 017 is to help you prepare an
academic plan (Form 48), which is just one of several documents required in
your application package for an enlisted commissioning program. Preparation
and approval of this academic plan may take 3 to 4 months, so contact us
early keeping in mind the enlisted commissioning selection board schedules.
