This position is now closed.  Position:  Latin teacher, one semester full-time sabbatical replacement starting January 7, 2008, and continuing through June 6, 2008.  Candidate will teach four to five classes of high school Latin, spanning Level II (Jenney's Second Year Latin), Level III (readings in various authors, currently including Selections From Ovid and Cupid and Psyche in the second semester), and Level IV-V (an advanced class, covering Ovid and Catullus in '07-'08, with student option to take the AP Latin: Literature exam).   Classes range from six to sixteen students. Additional responsibilities will/may include Latin Club, meetings, or other duties integral to active participation in school life.  Applicants must be enthusiastic and have experience teaching high school Latin through the advanced level.  Technological savvy a plus.  Salary to be determined by experience and course load; Shady Side Academy offers compensation commensurate and competitive with other private schools in the region.
