Two years teaching experience at the college level. I have taught Latin

have substituted at more advanced levels. I have also tutored in
intermediate and advanced Koine and Classical Greek and led discussion
sections on Greek and Roman Myth as well as Greek literature in
translation. I have had experience initiating and directing courses and
clubs. I have also tutored under-served students in Chemistry and
Biology at the undergraduate and high school levels. I hope to
teach Latin and Greek at the secondary level. I am near infinitely
adaptable and would enjoy the challenges of a large, inner-city public
school as much as the benefits afforded by a small, private
institution...and everything in between. What I value most is a
community; though accessible dramatic topography and/or water would be
greatly appreciated. While I cannot coach football, I look forward to

B.A., University
of North Carolina
(1968); Latin major, French major.
M.A.,
Florida State University
(1974); Classical Studies major.
Previously certified in Florida.
Over thirty years teaching experience, both in Latin and in English as a
Second Language.
I
have taught Latin I through Latin AP. In
Florida, I was
active in the JCL, taking students to local and state Latin forums,
where they performed with excellence. For the past few years I have
been teaching English as a Second Language in Japan. In Japan, I have also assisted
secondary school Latin teachers preparing to teach advanced levels of
Latin including the AP courses. At the present time, I am teaching
Latin online to several high school students in the
United States.
This is an exciting endeavor for
me, and is working out very successfully.
In addition to Latin, I can also teach French, Japanese, and
elementary classical Greek. I am a very energetic teacher and I
give teaching everything I have.
I am very active and enjoy sports and hiking in the mountains.
If possible, I would like a full-time job teaching Latin, although I
would be happy to combine it with teaching other languages.
I do not mind working between two schools.
I would prefer a school where Latin is an elective rather than a
requirement. My full resume is available upon request.
