Wiregrass Math Science Technology and leadership academy provides quality professional development for Wiregrass area Elementary Science and middle school Math teachers in the coming summer and follow up. It is supported by ACHE and Troy University. There is no charge to participate in the program. We will provide breakfast and refreshments during workshop and follow-up days. During the academic year, the substitute pay will be covered by the grant. Nationally known scholars will give presentations.

We have total of 40 slots budgeted. Some people have already registered. The Science and Math teachers will get $400 worth of teaching aids.  We will try to accommodate any other teaching aids that teachers may request.

All professional development programs addressed state and national standards.
All project communication to teachers was done by means of e-mail, which encouraged teachers to utilize this Internet source. E-mail alerts were sent to teacher reminding them of the upcoming workshop.

Additional public outreach provided by the Troy University Public Relations Department was a great benefit in communicating all events via both online resources through the University website and in the Wiregrass area newspaper (Dothan Eagle).
